Why we care

Gullie is a small team of intense, deeply committed people working on a mission we genuinely believe in: helping anyone move and feel at home somewhere new. We know firsthand how hard that is, and how much it matters to get it right. The high bar and the intensity come from conviction, not pressure. We’re looking for people who will hold it the same way.

The bet

The obvious things are easy to screen for: the exact skill, the right title, a clean line on a resume. What we care about more is harder to spot on paper. We look for agency and range, for people who taught themselves what they needed, who pick things up fast, and whose interests don’t fit neatly into one box.

Some of the best people we know work across disciplines: art and engineering, finance and literature, design and code. They’re used to being beginners, so they’re comfortable with problems they haven’t seen before, and they borrow from one field to solve another. That kind of range is easy to underrate, and we try not to.

It also feels like the right moment for this. AI lets a small team cover a lot of ground and still go deep where it counts, so range and depth aren’t the trade-off they used to be. We’re looking for people who want both.

What we look for

Multifaceted and colorful

We look for people who go deep on what they love and stay curious about a lot more. That curiosity tends to show up outside work too: a few cities lived in, a language or two, some niche obsession they’re quietly great at, from fencing to the world championships of some board game. We hire the whole person, not just the job title.

Hard-won empathy

Every move is an edge case, and you can’t feel that from a spreadsheet. The people who get it have lived it: landed somewhere new, rebuilt a life from scratch, been the stranger where nothing works like home. That kind of empathy can’t be faked, and it’s why we do the heavy lifting for everyone moving with us.

Figure it out

The people who thrive here don’t wait to be told how. They find the thread, pull it, and come back with an answer, resourceful by default and allergic to “that’s not my job.” We move fast and we execute, so hard things get solved instead of sitting in a queue. That’s what makes us a team you can count on: hand us something messy, and trust that it gets handled. We’ll figure it out.

We believe in failing upward. Try enough real things and some won’t work, and that’s not a setback; it’s tuition. Every honest attempt teaches you something the next one builds on, so the misses compound into momentum, an upward spiral toward whatever you’re chasing. We hire self-starters and builders for exactly this: people who would rather try, learn, and try again than wait for a sure thing. Bring what you’ve built and what you’ve broken; both tell us who you are.

We ship fast, and we ship often. The work still has to be good, but we’d rather get something real out every week than chase a perfect launch once a quarter. That pace keeps the momentum up and the product moving, and it builds on itself: every good thing we ship makes the next one easier.

We give people a lot of room: space to explore, do their best work, and lead independently. The trade is responsibility, owning the outcome and communicating clearly: your ideas, your plan, where things actually stand. Freedom only works when everyone treats the result as theirs and keeps the team in the loop. We hire adults and trust them like adults.
