Requirements

  • Confirmed enrollment at a Brazilian institution recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC)
  • Proof of financial means (roughly one Brazilian minimum wage, BRL 1,518/month in 2026; varies by consulate)
  • Health insurance valid in Brazil (most consulates)
  • Criminal background check for applicants over 18
  • Register with the Federal Police within 90 days of arrival
