Work permit for professions with a documented shortage in Denmark. Two lists apply: one for roles requiring higher education and one for skilled work. Salary only needs to match normal Danish levels for the occupation.

Requirements

  • Job offer in an occupation on the current Positive List for Higher Education (183 roles, January 2026) or Skilled Work (57 roles)
  • Qualifications matching the education level specified for the listed role
  • Pay and employment terms corresponding to Danish standards for the occupation
  • Danish authorization where the profession is regulated (e.g. healthcare)

Tips

  • Lists change every 1 January and 1 July; confirm the role on the date you apply
  • No fixed salary threshold, but pay must be at normal Danish level for the occupation
  • Higher-salaried applicants can use the Pay Limit Scheme without an occupation test
