Pass for spouses, children (under 21) and, in some cases, parents of Employment Pass holders. From 1 June 2026 all EP categories, including Category III, can sponsor dependents.

Requirements

  • Sponsor holds a valid Employment Pass (any category from 1 June 2026)
  • Relationship: legal spouse, children under 21, legally adopted children; parents/parents-in-law via Long-Term Social Visit Pass
  • Marriage/birth certificates attested and translated if not in English/Malay
  • Applications filed by the sponsor’s employer via ESD

Restrictions

  • No automatic right to work for dependents

Tips

  • Dependent spouses need their own Employment Pass or an approved work endorsement
  • Children can study in Malaysia without a separate student pass
  • Common-law partners typically use the Long-Term Social Visit Pass instead
