Residence permit for non-EEA students admitted to full-time study at a Norwegian university or university college.

Requirements

  • Admission to full-time studies at an approved institution
  • At least NOK 170,368 for an academic year (NOK 15,488 per month), from your funds, loans, grants or a Norwegian deposit account
  • Tuition paid where fees apply (most non-EEA students pay tuition since 2023)
  • Somewhere to live in Norway
  • Situation must make return home likely after studies (assessed case by case)

Tips

  • Students may work up to 20 hours per week during term and full-time in holidays
  • A transfer to the university’s deposit account can document the required funds
  • After graduating you can apply for a job-seeker permit to stay up to a year
